# How to connect custom domain

This document will walk you through the easy process of connecting your custom domain to the Unicorn platform.

###### Ensure You Have the Following:

* An **active paid subscription** on the Unicorn platform.
* A purchased domain name from a domain provider.

### Step 1 – Enable custom domain
 ****
* Navigate to "Settings -> Custom domain" tab.
* Enter your domain or subdomain name into the "Custom domain" field.
* Click the "Save" button.

### Step 2 – Set up DNS

Go to your domain provider DNS dashboard and add the DNS records exactly as shown in your website builder. 

**Type: A ** 
1. Host (name) :  **@** (or leave empty if you domain registrar doesn't allow it.)
2. Value (data): follow the exact value provided in Settings -> Custom domain tab in website builder.
3. Disable "Proxy status" if you are using Cloudflare.
4. TTL: Set it to the lowest possible value

**Type: CNAME**  
1. Host (name):
**www** - for DOMAIN name  
**sub-domain-name** - for SUBDOMAIN  
2. Value (data): follow the exact value provided in Settings -> Custom domain tab in website builder.
3. Disable "Proxy status" if you are using Cloudflare.
4. TTL: Set it to the lowest possible value

||| Ensure that the information displayed under the Settings -> Custom domain tab in website builder match the information in your DNS records.

### Step 3 - Save your changes

### Step 4 - proxy in Cloudflare
 If you are using proxy in Cloudflare, please make sure you have the **encryption mode set to "Full"**.

### Step 5 - DNS Propagation
Waiting for DNS Propagation, it might  take up to 24 hours to process.
